PreK Registration - The PreK 2025 - 2026 PreK Lottery will open on February 3, 2025
PreK admission is done through a lottery only. This is due to the limited physical space at North Street School.
Our PreK Lottery opens on February 3, 2025 and closes on February 28, 2025. Families selected are notified by March 10, 2025. We offer half-day preschool opportunities...
All preschool classes follow the regular elementary school calendar.
Morning half-day - 8:30 am to 11:00 am
Afternoon half-day - 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm
To be eligible: 3 year old students must be 3 by September 1, 2025. The lottery will open on February 3, 2025, and close on February 28, 2025; the lottery will be drawn the week of March 10, 2025. Families will be notified the week of March 10, 2025. .
Once your child has been offered a spot in PreK, please read to the bottom of the section before beginning the process. Families must be able to provide transportation both to and from preschool based on the program’s hours.
Please come for a visit to a Prek classroom at North Street School Preschool. We have two dates available for screening visits. The dates are: Wednesday 3/26/25 from 12:00-12:45 or Wednesday 4/9/25 from 3:30-4:15. Please note that students must be fully registered prior to sign up for the visit. Registration is an online process and may be completed from your home/office or by coming into the school by appointment only, where we can assist you. Please read the information below to learn more about the documents you need to register your child fully. Please follow the steps below to register your preschooler.
Registration Process:
To complete the online registration, you must sign up with an active email account to use the online registration system. To begin the registration process, please complete the following steps:
1. Complete the online pre-registration form here: Pre-Registration Form
2. After completing the online pre-registration form, gather all the required documents (listed below)
3. Once your pre-registration form is approved, you will receive an email titled “WLPS New Student Registration: Next Steps.” containing the next steps for submitting the required documents. Please scan them as you will need to upload them into the PowerSchool forms. (Sample email)
*If you cannot scan or upload your documents, fax them to North Street School at Fax #: (860) 292-8191, OR you can drop them off at North Street School through the drop box outside of the building. Please write "Registration Documents for [child's name]" on your cover letter.
4. Ages and Stages Developmental Questionnaire (ASQ)
If your child has been accepted to PreK at North Street School and you have completed the registration process, we kindly ask that you complete the Ages and Stages Developmental Questionnaires (ASQ). This will provide your child's teacher with valuable developmental information on your child. If you have any questions about the ASQ, please call North Street School at 860-292-5027.
There are two Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQs) that you will need to complete:
- ASQ-3: Ages & Stages Questionnaires®, Third Edition (ASQ®-3)
- ASQ:SE-2: Ages & Stages Questionnaires®: Social-Emotional, Second Edition (ASQ®:SE-2)

Required Documentation*
1. Proof of Residency:
- Provide ONE (1) of the following primary documents in the name of the parent/guardian.
- Lease Agreement (date range must include the current month) OR
- Mortgage statement (dated within the last 2 months)
If your name does not appear on the rental/lease agreement or the mortgage statement, you will need your "host," the person whose name is on the lease or mortgage, to complete this form AND have it notarized. Additionally, we will need ONE of the primary documents (listed above) AND ONE of the secondary documents (listed below) in your host's name.
AND
- Provide ONE (1) of the following secondary documents in the name of the parent/guardian. All must be dated within the last 2 months:
- Current utility bill (electric, gas, or water),
- Current bill (cable or insurance - homeowner's or renter's),
- Current pay stub, OR
- Current proof of government benefits (SNAP, HUD, or Husky).
2. Photo ID of parent(s) or guardian(s)
3. Child's birth certificate (if born in the U.S.) or passport (if born abroad). This must be a copy of the original, full-size document.
4. Proof of Income - in the form of a W2 or most recent pay stub. This is for state reporting purposes and is kept confidential; it won't impact whether or not your child can attend PreK. (Necessary ONLY for PreK students.) and Form A1. Income Verification Form in PowerSchool.
5. Child's most recent Physical Examination, Immunizations, and Oral Health Assessment / Screening must be completed by a doctor/dentist. An out-of-state physical must be signed by a medical doctor (MD).
Immunization Record and Updated Physical Medical Exam
All students must meet the State of Connecticut medical and immunization requirements to enter school.
A) If you are new to Connecticut, you must provide an Early Childhood Health Assessment Record (birth to 5) reflecting a physical exam completed within the last year.
B) If your child is transferring from a school within Connecticut, please obtain a copy of your child's Early Childhood Health Assessment Record (birth to 5) from either your child's previous school or your physician's office.
C) All records must also include proof of Immunization (usually included on your child’s Health Assessment Record as described above). Click here for a list of Immunization Requirements For Enrolled Students in Connecticut Schools for 2022-23.
To expedite the enrollment process, please submit a copy of your child's health assessment and vaccination records upon registration. Delays in these forms may cause a delay in your child's start date.
Additional Documentation:
1. Picture or photo ID for any adults authorized to pick up your child from school (other than parents/guardians)
2. Court Documentation related to custody or guardianship (if applicable)
3. IEP/504 (if applicable)
Miscellaneous Form - If Applicable:
1. Host/Local Resident Form (This form is only necessary if your name does not appear on the rental/lease agreement or the mortgage statement. The affidavit must be signed by the Windsor Locks host and notarized)
* The Federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act provides special legal protections for children and youth experiencing homelessness, including homeless “unaccompanied youth”, who are not in the custody of a parent or guardian. Children and youth experiencing homelessness or displacement have a right to enroll in school, even if their families cannot produce enrollment documentation. Assistance is available at the time of registration.

Kindergarten Registration for the 2025-2026 school year will open on March 3, 2025.
Children entering kindergarten in the 2025-26 school year must turn 5 on or before September 1, 2025. If your child turns 5 on September 2, 2025, through December 31, 2025, parents may submit a written request to the school to admit their child. An assessment completed by the school will determine if admitting the child would be developmentally appropriate. Written requests must be received by 3/31/25. Assessments will take place during the month of April and families will be informed of the results by May. Once the assessment is completed and registration is approved, families will have access to register their child.
Student registration needs to be completed at the School that the student will be attending.
