Taking Notes

There are numerous ways to take notes.  Whichever method you choose you need to include as much of the following information as you can.

  1. Parenthetical information (Where did the note come from?)
    1. Title. Author. Publisher. Place of Publication. Volume. Page Numbers. Date Published. 
  2. Quote
  3. Paraphrase the idea in your own words
    1. Avoid Plagiarism when Paraphrasing: Here are some tips to help.
  4. Explain why the idea was important

Make sure to put each new idea on a new note card.
